This book provides a great overview for anyone interested in how the philosophy and practice of Appreciative Inquiry and Spiritual Wisdom can be applied to human capacity building and global development – with a clear reminder that to be effective one must embody an ethical, spiritual and appreciative life.
- Diana Whitney, PhD, President, Corporation for Positive Change, NC 27516, USA

This book to me is a plethora of knowledge well inked to explain the most difficult issues in a lucid, clear, simple and comprehensible way. Being first of its kind, the book presents up-to-date information on the subject matter, but is not limited to relevant cases and examples. It is a serene and simple literature and its simplicity will appeal to people high-spirited to the subject concerned. Furthermore, I firmly believe that this book will be an invaluable asset to any academic institutions, development organizations, any library and a stock of applied knowledge.
- Prof. Govinda P. Acharya, PhD, Dean, Faculty of Management, Tribhuvan University

This writing has added a substantial contribution to fulfil the dearth of the positive, moral and spiritual paucity in the present day society. I assure that this book is applicable for Bachelors and Masters Level across the social sciences, science, education, and management to teach appreciative/positive inquiry approaches and spiritual wisdom.
- Prof. Dr. Dev Raj Adhikari, Head of the Central Department of Management, Tribhuvan University

The present book ‘Appreciative Inquiry to Spiritual Wisdom’ presents an exhaustive description of how an individual develops personally and how his/her efforts can contribute to the development of a society in particular and a nation in general. The main thrust behind this proposition is that a positive human being can lead a society positively and vice versa.
- Prof. Jai Raj Awasthi, PhD, Vice chancellor

Dr. Chapagain is successful for bringing countless insights from all the sources of knowledge—science, social science and spirituality to build inter-connection of various worldviews for internal bliss and human welfare. Fundamentally, the analysis of both macro and micro theories in the book underlies a bold comparison, distillation and synthesis of both Eastern and Western tradition of knowledge and action research.
- Dev Raj Dahal, Head, FES Nepal

If our daily life is guided by the values of love, peace, truth, wisdom, integrity, justice, co-existence, service, devotion and pleasure or contentment as illustrated by Dr. Chapagain in this book, it is obvious that it will be most satisfying for us individually and for the human society as a whole. In fact, it will be closer towards perfection.
- Jayaraj Acharya, PhD, Kathmandu

AI blended with science, development and spiritualism as the author pointed out can become the best energizing tonic for many hearts. It can lead many minds for spiritual inquiry. My sincerest prayers to Chandi ji, a person of cosmic thinking, infinite qualities and vision for his Sad-vichar, Sewa and Sadhana!
-Dr. Chintamani Yogi, Head, Hindu Vidyapeeth-Nepal

The present modern education system is full of material with very good knowledge on varied fields like Science, Technology, Management, etc. but there lacks knowledge and inputs on human values of divinity, inner power, quality of sobriety, culture dispositions, integrity, restrained and controlled character which could make a fragrant human personality working in them in their long walk of life with fellow human beings, and in dealing with whatever situations that come in life to be a successful at inner personal and interpersonal level. I believe, brother Chandi ji's effort in the form of this book will fill this vacuum in today's study curriculums.
- Brahma Kumari Raj, Director, Brahmakumaris Nepal

I wondered from his ability to come up with the “Spiritual Inquiry for Development Cycle” for the first time in the world by amalgamating the science, development, positivity and spiritualism. Similarly, the wiew about the ripple effect of positive thought and the four ‘E’ appreciative leadership model i.e. Elucidation, Envison, Encourage and Enlighten are foremost. Ten common good or universal values as Love, Peace, Truth, Wisdom, Integrity, Justice, Co-existence, Service, Devotion, and Contentment by him are also appealing.
- Pandit Deen Bandhu Pokhrel, Bachan Praveen

This book gives new development path to development agencies, individuals and academic institutions, and talks about positive transformation of people’s living, their attitude and behavior.  The new approaches of development; moving from Appreciative Inquiry to Spiritual Inquiry (SI) that is more about common good spiritualism but not the self-centered domestic spiritualism is pioneering. He is critical regarding imposition of particular religion but open for proposing global religion with common good values and global flag.
- Chhing Lamu Sherpa, Executive Member - Imagine Nepal, Chairperson - NEPAN

I am amazed with some of the specified views of the writer in the book. He demonstrates universal spiritualism not as a domestic one converging it  with positivity, science and development and at the same time precisely comparing the East and West development foundation, their leadership styles for a better humanity in wholesome. His global good and patriotic view heightens the significance of this scholarly work.
- Gauri Pradhan, Commissioner, National Human Rights Commission, Nepal

The essence of this spiritual wisdom is the “life force” or “energy’ that emanates from the depths of all individuals without reference to any particular theistic religious tradition, doctrine, and/or ritual. It is drawn mainly from the spiritual traditions of the East.
- Dr. Donal Keane, Country Director, Plan Nepal

Key Note by Prof. Govinda Prasad Acharya on the Book "Appreciative Inquiry to Spiritual Wisdom" Delivered Right After the Inauguration on 21st April 2012

Respected Chair of the program, distinguished personalities in the Dias, and Learned invitees in front of Dias, ladies and gentleman and of course the cosmic thinker Dr. Chandi Prasad Chapagain.

It is indeed a matter of immense pleasure for me to be here in this gathering of learned and enlightened persons, to launch the book and be a part of the book launching program.

The book entitled "Appreciative Inquiry to Spiritual Wisdom', inked by Dr. Chandi Prasad Chapagain and published by Appreciative Learning and Development Management (ALDM), is a pioneering book on the subject matter that exclusively deals with the developmental matter of mankind and humanity. Having worked as a development professional, researcher, academician, and above all meticulous and in-depth study on the subject, Dr. Chapagain has come up with this book as pragmatic gift for the mankind, humanity and to the world at large.

The book to me is a plethora of knowledge well inked to explain the most difficult issues in a lucid, clear, simple and comprehensive manner. Being first of its kind, the book presents up- to-date information on the subject matter and deals the issues in multi-dimensional facets. To me, it is a complex but made simple and serene literature that appeals one and all interested on the subject concerned.

This book by Dr. Chapagain provides detailed overview of the philosophy and practice of Appreciative Inquiry and Spiritual Wisdom that can be applied to human capacity building and global development through the embodiment of universal spiritual core values. Very rightly pointed out by the author is that the universal truth of the subject of inquiry, at all times, have been centered to mankind with different perspectives, though.

Taking out the mankind and humanity from this modern society of materialism which lacks core spiritual values causing lack of sense of belonging and interconnectedness to create a brotherhood and mankind friendly living family, society and the world, the present book gives a great headway for all of us. I, therefore, believe that the book flow a lot of insights to us so as to maintain a balanced relationship between material and spiritual development. In this perspective, the book contains the principles of positive inquiry and theories in detail for better understanding the application of appreciative approaches. Besides, these principles and theories are well analyzed in the context of global literature and related disciplines inherent within so as to make the reader clear about the subject matter from every count. In addition, the author has done great favor by providing techniques and tools to facilitate positive approaches. Awakening about the consequences of positive and negative thinking processes in human life has been another beautiful aspect of the books. The author has successfully elaborated as to how negative thinking curses the mankind and humanity as against positive thinking blessed with better results and peace for developing friendly global society, worth living to the fullest.

I suggest all to go through this book slowly with full understanding of what has been said by the author. I am confident that one can enlighten oneself through appreciative inquiry and spiritual wisdom and become peaceful and fruitful.

The development revealed by modern society at present is interwoven with hatred, enmity, despair, individualism, separation, broken family, selfishness, crime, war, betrayal and similar other negativities. These have in totality crippled the social and spiritual universal values endangering the human civilization. In a state like ours, this book by Dr. Chandi Prasad Chapagain is remarkably a milestone and for this he truly deserves sincere appreciation and congratulations from all. In the mean time, it is equally relevant and timely to introduce the subject like this in the curricula of university education especially in social sciences, applied science and management. It is only then we start moving on to imparting value based education and, positivity to our students who drive the future of the nation.

This book on Appreciative Inquiry to Spiritual Wisdom has provided incredible inputs in positive and spiritual lens. Some such that admired and impressed me and, I believe, can impress others as well are as follows.

  1. Convergence of spiritual core values with positivity, science, development and education
  2. Development of thought provoking positive science for the search of the best in development, business, education and spiritual sector characterized by generative, creative and transformative principles, theories and practices.
  3. Capacity of appreciative/positive inquiry capable of achieving goals as against the negative attitude and behavior
  4. Propounding of 'Spiritual Inquiry for development Cycle' by the amalgamation of science, development positivity and spiritualism
  5. Developing human friendly global society through internalization of positive cum spiritual core values like love, peace, truth, wisdom, integrity, justice, coexistence, service, devotion, and contentment
  6. Spiritual world with applied core values is preferable to material world for overall development and betterment
  7. Pioneering work on the appreciative "Four E" ( elucidation, envision, encourage, and enlightenment) leadership model
  8. Blend of western scientific and technological knowledge with the eastern Vedic spiritual wisdom for world peace
  9. Exploration of the vitality of human thought by a logical equation (P= TR2 )

Dr. Chapagain who inked this book is the outcome of positive cum spiritual thinking, attributes and attitude of service to mankind and humanity in the wholesome. In short, the message is to create a blissful, peaceful and delightful human friendly global society. This great work that provided an invaluable gift to the world community to understand and act upon the vitality of appreciative inquiry and spiritual wisdom truly deserves appreciation and admiration.

Let us contemplate on some of our eternal messages such as Sarve bhabantu Sukhina Sarve Santu Niramaya, Sarve Bhadrani Pasyantu Makashtchit Dukha Bhagbhabet; Basudaiva Kutumbakam; Asatoma Sad Gamaya Tamasoma Jyotir gamaya Mrityorma Amritam Gamaya, This will be our true tribute to the sincere and hard work of cosmic thinker Dr. Chapagain and his great holistic contribution to mankind and humanity.

In a nutshell, I would beg to put my understanding of this book in a popular Sanskrit saying "Yad Bhabam, Tad Bhabati" meaning as you think so you become.

Finally, we all should be sincere enough to thank Dr. Chapagain for providing such a wonderful gift that takes us towards emancipation. Let us pray the almighty to give enough strength to Chapagain Ji to ink similar work in future.

From today onwards, let us think and act to make this world a truly human friendly global society.
